Woke up early enough to see an amazing sunrise. So like a
Turner painting unfolding and changing as the sun rose higher. The spray from
the falls made interesting shapes and colours around the sun.
Breakfast downstairs after packing my bags. Again very
little GF to eat at the buffet style selection, so once again relying on my
rice cakes. Then I checked out after querying the bill that was under my door.
It was only a copy of the boat ride. Two add on taxes here: HST 13% and TI
(Tourist tax) of 6.9% a total of 19.9%! And the internet cost of $8.95 per day
was waived because it is supposed to be free.
Checked my bags in with the valet and set off with only my
day pack and camera bag. Not too long into my walk my jacket was off. The sun
was blasting down today. By the end of the walk just a light shirt on and
wishing I had my sneakers, not boots. But everyone I spoke to, said the weather
was very unusual for this time of the year. I am happy for it to go back to
normal tomorrow. The crowds were gone today and that was noticeable even on the
boat tours.
This time I walked to the right and found a fabulous place
to take photos at the top of the “Elevator”. I thought I would be walking up to
the bridge so I only got a single ticket down to the base. Fabulous views of
the Horseshoe Falls (Canadian) not so much of the American falls.
It is quite
spectacular to see how wide the river is and the depth of the falls from up on
the bank. I walked to the right for quite a while taking photos as I went and
then decided that if I walked to the bridge I would not have time for lunch.
And I “think” I have enough photos of both the falls and autumn leaves. A very
happy camper.
Came back up to the hotel to retrieve my bag for my computer
and ordered lunch. While I was waiting I downloaded this morning’s shots. Some
were just amazing. A lovely fresh chicken salad- yum. Real food.
Then I sat down to use the internet in the hotel lobby,
because by the time I get back tonight it will be another late night. I took a
break to go to the bathroom and found someone had run amok with the paper- the
it took me ten minutes to find a person
who was the “right one” – for the others it was a case of “not my job”/ “can’t
be found”?
One hour to go before the taxi/ train. It has been a wonderful place to visit.
Enjoying your blogs.Sounds a fantastic place to visit
