Day 2 LA

Woke after a wonderful night’s sleep. Horizontal is bliss!
Breakfast, before I made a casserole for dinner, while Susan started work at her desk. I put the clothes in the washing machine and then the drier (remember it all goes in the drier despite being a gorgeous, windy, sunny day!) Then I sat down to put some of my websites in order, a quick message exchange with Sarah, already having some mild contractions. Then the drier had an issue.
Narrow part around the lint collector
This was inside.
Message telling me the “clean the filter”? Hmmm… I automatically did it before I put the clothes in? Checked the filter again… all clean? Then I looked underneath the filter…bonanza! A ton of fluff down there. Next issue, how to remove the lint? Quick check to find the narrow space must have been designed by someone with the thinnest arms/ fingers that were 40 cms long, with tweezers at the end. Another check. No aliens close by to help even in LA. So next best thing- a pair of chop sticks- not quite long enough, but I could get out some of the closest lint, until I dropped one down the hole! Next after checking the inside of the machine, I found some screws > screwdriver to remove the filter holder. Now my arm could fit down there and I pulled out all the lint and the chop stick. All good and the machine was happy again.

After lunch, time for a walk to the shops. It was a lovely day for a walk. The crosswalk has a cautionary message “Cross street with caution. Vehicles may not stop”. You don’t get stop lights, but you do get amber flashing lights. Thankfully the car did stop.

I walked up and down Ralph’s supermarket looking for GF/ LF. They don’t have a designated GF section which required a lot of reading labels. Unlike Australia, packets are not always labelled GF on the packet front or included in the quick warning below ingredients. Not a lot of GF, but I did find some LF cheese and some Gf snacks. Return journey was without incident and the kids were back from school.

We all sat around watching Dr. Phil solve the problems of the world, while I wrote up today’s news and knitted. Churo was going crazy running around the house. Oscar came home early and we ate dinner together. More TV/ knitting after dinner, but this time the kids were intent on driving their grandmother crazy with multiple episodes of Pepper Pig while working their way through their Halloween loot. Troy could start his own shop with his pile that he could barely hold and Teagan's pillowcase was a third full!
